One of the most remote areas in Oregon, this was taken on a road that eventually leads into the Sheepshead Mountains, snaking through what is called the Mickey Basin. Very little road work is done in these areas, so for a while there was a spring, called Horse Spring, that would linger right in the road and you had to figure out how to either drive through it or around it. Yes, horses would drink here. I’ve seen a few, charging over the vast rolling hills. There are no fences in this country.
